Kalvin Phillips was not in Man City’s squad for Saturday’s 3-0 win at Wolves, regardless of a late substitute appearance against Borussia Dortmund.
According to reports, City is debating whether to send Phillips for shoulder surgery, which may jeopardize the 26-year-chance old’s of playing in the World Cup.
Phillips has not yet made a City debut.
He has only made three appearances, all from the bench, totaling 14 minutes since his £45 million summer transfer from Leeds.
When defending his most recent team selection on Thursday, England coach Gareth Southgate identified him as one of the players.
The opening match of England’s World Cup campaign, against Iran, comes on November 21. There are little over nine weeks left.
