KARACHI: The crackdown against fake, unregistered, counterfeit, and substandard medicines continued across the country.

On the directives of Federal Minister Of National Health Services, Regulations And Coordination, Abdul Qadir Patel the crackdown against fake and unregistered medicines is underway in all major cities of Pakistan.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Health said that action against fake and counterfeit medicines is continue all over the country while the rug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) team has conducted two major raids in Karachi.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health said that the Drug Control team along with the district administration and Sindh police raided Saudabad where the production of unregistered medicines was going on.

Chief Executive Officer DRAP said that the police has lodged a case against the involved people after seizing the raw material, packing material, and all the medicines and sealing them.

Similarly, the drug control team raided Gulshan e Iqbal, a pharma distributor in Karachi, and during the raid, a huge quantity of unregistered psychotropic narcotics was seized.

Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel said that legal action will be taken against the accused, and the people involved in the illegal trade of fake and unregistered medicines will be brought to justice.

He said that “I will not take rest until elimination trade of fake and unregistered medicines from the country because we are ensuring all necessary measures to supply quality and standard medicines.”

Abdul Qadir Patel further said that improvement in the health sector is our priority.

Earlier, Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) team has conducted a raid at Altaf Traders in Karachi’s Kachi Gali Medicine Market during which around 252,000 Panadol tablets were seized.
