King Charles III allows Prince Harry to wear military uniform despite being non-working royal

  • The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex will be in uniform, Kensington Palace says.
  • Prince Harry is a former British Army captain who saw duty in Afghanistan.

King Charles’ most recent action, permitting Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, to wear a military uniform despite not being a working royal, appears to have won Prince Harry’s heart.

After previously being prohibited from doing so, a Kensington Palace spokeswoman has confirmed that Prince Harry will don a military uniform for Queen Elizabeth’s vigil.

The spokesman said, “The Prince of Wales will stand at the Head, the Duke of Sussex at the Foot. At the King’s request, they will both be in uniform.”

Unlike other senior British royals, Harry and his uncle Prince Andrew were initially prohibited from attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in uniform.

In light of the continued consequences from the assault controversy, Andrew had his “His Royal Highness” and honorary military titles revoked at the beginning of the year.

While moving to California with his family, Prince Harry retired as the senior working royal.

Harry is a former British Army captain who saw duty in Afghanistan.

Since Andrew, a senior royal who piloted Royal Navy helicopters in the 1982 Falklands War with Argentina, he was the last senior royal to serve on the front lines in a war zone.
