Following the death of his beloved mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s new monarch, King Charles III, made reference to his son Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, in his first address to the nation.
Judi James, an author, and body language specialist examined King Charles’ actions and expressions during the address and stated that he displayed evidence of regret when he referenced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The next king, 73, expressed his want to “convey my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to establish their lives overseas.”
Charles’ remark regarding the Sussexes produced a pause, according to James.
“This was a totally different Charles from the usually stoic and emotionally-isolated man we are normally allowed to witness,” she explained.
“Openly emotional, King Charles spoke of his affection for his ‘darling wife,’ his ‘darling mom,’ and, dramatically, Harry and Meghan,” she continued.
During her interpretation of the King’s speech, James stated, “This last remark forced a pause from Charles as he gazed down in an eye cut-off of what looked like regret and even emerged with what sounded like a slight sigh.”
She also remarked that King Charles “looked somewhat bowed in mourning, and his features were flushed and softened.”
“His eyes were very sorrowful, and as he faced his mother directly at the end of his statement, they seemed to wet,” she continued.
