Harry and Meghan got last minute invites for Queen’s funeral

Prince William, Prince Harry, and their wives Kate and Meghan got back together on Saturday to visit Windsor Castle to see flower tributes to Queen Elizabeth II.

The two spouses presented a united front as they observed the banks of flowers left after the queen’s passing on Thursday at the age of 96. They were all wearing black as a sign of sadness.

It was William and Kate’s first public appearance as the new Prince and Princess of Wales, a position that had previously been held by William and Harry’s paternal grandparents, the future King Charles III and princess Diana.

Even if they split out to speak and shake hands with opposing sides of the applauding crowds, the sight of the two couples together will probably lead to rumors of a reconciliation.

British media reported that William “invited the Duke and Duchess (of Sussex — Harry and Meghan) to join him and the Princess of Wales earlier” and provided no further details.

Omid Scobie, a journalist and friend of Meghan and Harry, cited royal sources when he said that the invitation to the Sussexes was decided upon at the last minute.  “It is, without a doubt, a significant moment in the history of the relationship between the two brothers,” he remarked.

Scobie said, “Just as we saw after the death of Prince Philip and at his funeral, these are the moments when members of the royal family can put differences to one side to focus on the loss that has brought them together. Today’s public reunion was a show of the utmost respect to the Queen.”
