ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed a plea that sought to hold former information minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry in contempt of court for making anti-judiciary statements on Tuesday, BOL News reported.

The plea, which Justice Babar Sattar heard, was reportedly ruled to be inadmissible because Attorney Saleemullah sought to hold Fawad Chaudhry in contempt of court for making derogatory comments about judges on social media.

The court decided at the hearing that it could not begin legal action over political statements criticizing decisions. The petition’s referenced case was already being heard by a larger bench, the court emphasized.

It is important to note that Advocate Saleemullah filed a complaint with the IHC against Fawad Chaudhry for his disparaging comments about the court on social media.

According to the lawsuit, the PTI leader criticized the judiciary after Imran Khan, a former prime minister, threatened a female judge named Zeba Chaudhry.

The applicant asked the court to declare the PTI leader in contempt of court and punish him in accordance with the law.

Imran Khan was given a show-cause notice earlier on August 23 by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), which had initiated contempt of court proceedings against him for allegedly threatening Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

Imran Khan was given a second chance by the Islamabad High Court to respond in writing to contempt of court charges brought against him for making threatening remarks about a female judge within seven days during proceedings on August 31.
