SUKKUR: PTI Chairman Imran Khan has vowed to provide Rs1 billion for the flood victims in Sindh from the funds raised for relief activities in the telethon.
The PTI chairman arrived in Sukkur on a brief visit and went to a flood relief campaign. He also met with the flood victim and vowed to provide all assistance.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of Insaf Relief Program, Imran Khan said he had visited the area to witness the flood damages firsthand and provide relief to the people of Sindh.
The former prime minister said he was briefed by his team on the flood situation. He said Sindh was the worst affected by the flood situation and has suffered immense losses.
Imran Khan announced to spend Rs1 billion raised from the telethon on flood victims in Sindh. He said the party will decide whether to spend the funds on every district or across the whole province.
He said the damages were caused by the flash floods in Balochistan. He said when they come to power again, they will set up a programme to build small dams to preserve rainwater and reduce losses.
Imran Khan said the PTI was the only party that worked on building small and large dams in over five decades. He said the party launched a programme to build 20 large dams and they started working on three large dams.
He further announced a project will be set up to build a proper drainage system to prevent urban flooding in Sindh. He said stopping the flow of water during torrential downpours will cause further damages.
He said they will launched a project to plant ten billion trees in the country. He said they launched a reafforestation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will expand them it to rest of Sindh.
He urged the youth of Sindh to get rid of Zardari from Sindh. He said Zardari was responsible for abject poverty and backwardness in Sindh. He vowed to visit every district of Sindh and lead the people to real freedom.
