Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that seeing the performance of the governments of the PML-N and PPP, martial law seems better than their regimes.
He further said that both parties registered cases of corruption including Surya Palace to Hudaibia Papers Mill cases against one another.
He expressed these views while addressing a seminar on the protection and freedom of media in Pakistan on Thursday.
The PTI chief said that on several occasions across the globe, attempts were made to control the masses as in monarchy and dictatorship, such rulers wanted to even control the thoughts of the humans.
“They want to control the minds for imposing their rules but not improving their societies. It is a historical fact that only those nations became stronger who allowed the freedom of expression,” said Khan.
“[Senior journalist] Najam Sethi had been tortured for three days when he launched criticism against [former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid] Nawaz Sharif. These people are afraid of being exposed for their corruption and they choose to break the law.”
He maintained that Asif Ali Zardari had laundered $1.5 billion to foreign countries, adding that corruption nourishes in those societies where there is no rule of law.
Imran observed that the regime of power exists in Pakistan, adding that Nawaz Sharif had established 17 factories in just three years.

He said that his purpose to come into politics was to end corruption in the country.
In the beginning, they thought that General Pervaz Musharraf had come into power to eliminate corruption from the country that was why they supported him but he (Musharraf) gave NRO to the PML-N and PPP.
The PTI chairman recalled that he was of the view that the Establishment was worried about the corruption in the country and a number of times, the ISI had briefed him (as prime minister of Pakistan) about the corruption of the PML-N and PPP.
He added that Suleman Shehbaz went to China to take his kickback.
He said that they (the PTI government) could not have understood why their corruption cases were not meeting their logical end, then they came to know there was some hidden power, which was supporting them.
“Unfortunately, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was not in our control [during PTI government], otherwise, we would definitely recover billions of stolen money from 15 to 20 people.”

He said that he wanted to ask the Establishment how it could impose such corrupt people on the country.
It meant that corruption was not any issue and problem and crime for them (Establishment).
He questioned whether theft and corruption is not bad thing.
He further said that if someone wants to destroy their society, they should allow corruption.
“If Shahbaz Gill gives a statement by mistake, then what is the reason to blame ARY News? Shahbaz Gill has been asked to give a statement against Imran Khan.”
The PTI chairman said that only fresh elections could bring political stability to the country.
