A man was stabbed to death on a side road in the vicinity of Oxford Street in London, according to the police.

At approximately 11:40 British Standard Time, the local emergency services were dispatched to Poland Street in Soho.

The victim, whose identity has not been determined at this time, was discovered with stab wounds. At 12:20, the medical examiner ruled him dead at the spot.

A representative for the Metropolitan Police Department has verified that one individual has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Oxford Street, which is one of the biggest shopping areas in Europe and receives tens of thousands of tourists per day, branches out onto Poland Street at one point. Poland Street is a one-way street.

It extends into Soho, which is also a crowded neighbourhood that is well-known for its nightlife.

Paramedics reportedly arrived at the scene at approximately 11:36, according to the London Ambulance Service.
