Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has achieved another victory in Punjab as PTI candidate Wasiq Qayyum has been elected as Punjab Assembly deputy speaker unopposed.
According to the details, after the no-confidence motion against PA Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari was successful, the seat of deputy speaker was vacant. The PTI nominated Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi as a candidate for the deputy speaker slot and he submitted his nomination papers. Then, he was elected as deputy speaker of Punjab Assembly without any contestant against him.
It should be noted that the opposition parties nominated Ali Haider Gilani as a candidate in the Punjab Assembly, but the deputy speaker candidate Ali Haider Gilani could not submit the papers due to which Gilani was out of the race.
After being elected as the deputy speaker, Wasiq Qayyum, talking to the media, said, “Today, the chief minister, speaker and deputy speaker are with the PTI. The imported government made big claims, but the people had taught them a lesson.
