Barcelona and Sevilla reach agreement on trading Jules Kounde

  • Kounde has officially joined Barcelona.
  • The deal has been closed with £41.85 million.
  • Kounde will soon be at Camp Nou.

Barcelona and Sevilla have reached an agreement in principle for the sale of French defender Jules Kounde for a rumoured £41.85 million.

Since making his France debut in 2021, Kounde has won 11 caps. Chelsea was apparently interested in signing Kounde.

Since joining Sevilla in 2019 from Bordeaux, the defender has made 133 appearances and won the Europa League in his rookie season.

He also began France’s 2-1 victory against Spain in the Nations League final, which France won.

Kounde will soon be at the Camp Nou, following the additions of Brazilian winger Raphinha from Leeds for £55 million and Polish striker Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich for £42.6 million.

Franck Kessie of the Ivory Coast and Andreas Christensen of Denmark, both free agents from Chelsea and AC Milan, have joined Xavi’s squad, along with Ousmane Dembele of France, whose contract has been renewed.
