According to WHAM-TV, Rochester Mayor Malik Evans remarked, “This is a tragedy for our city.” “Rochester, please pray for these officers and their loved ones. Every day they risk their lives by going outside.
And while some individuals choose to watch from the sidelines, these men are actively working to keep our neighbourhood safe. We kindly ask for prayers for these policemen, their families, the Rochester Police Department, and the whole community.”
According to the publication Democrat & Chronicle, a woman was also shot. Both her condition and the officer who is still alive are unknown. The shooting’s specifics remain a secret.
The City of Utica, New York Police Department posted on Facebook, “Our sympathies are with the family and fellow officers of the Rochester Police Department after the loss of one of their own this evening in a senseless shooting.” We pray for the second cop who was shot in the same incident to recover quickly and be in good health.
Terrible news out of Rochester tonight where one @RochesterNYPD officer was shot and killed, and another officer was also shot and is now in the hospital. Prayers up for these officers, their families, and the Rochester community. We must do more to back the blue.🙏
