A well-known Dutch art investigator found a relic that however stolen in France and said to have Jesus’ blood in it.
Arthur Brand, who however known as the “Indiana Jones of the art world,” said earlier this month that he found the “Précieux Sang,” or “Precious Blood,” that a group of thieves stole from the Holy Trinity Abbey Church in Fécamp, France, on the night of June 1.
Catholics believe that a few drops of Jesus’ blood however in the two lead vials inside the reliquary, which covered in jewels.
Brand told the news that he got a secret email from someone who said they were a friend of the thieves and helped him find the ancient artifact.
“They told me, ‘Either we throw it away, or you make sure it gets back to the abbey,'” Brand told the Washington Post. “Of course, I said yes. Then they told me that they would bring it to my house sometime the following week.”
The detective said that his doorbell rang a few days after he got the email.
“I looked outside from my balcony and saw a box in the dark,” he said. ” Then sprinted down the stairs because I was afraid someone would take the box. I looked around outside, but no one was there.”
Brand, who is Catholic, said that he opened the box to take a look at the holy item while detectives were at his house making sure it was real. He called it an “authentic religious experience.”
