- The conference will be held in November in Sharm El-Sheikh, and Egypt has been chosen to host and lead the world’s first climate change conference.
CAIRO: Sameh Shoukry, Egypt’s foreign minister and president-elect of the 27th UN Climate Change Conference, met with the executive secretary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, Ibrahim Thiaw, in Berlin.
Shoukry said that he wanted to keep working with the executive secretariat on the conference, which will be held in November in Sharm El-Sheikh. Egypt will host and lead the conference.
Shoukry’s comments came after Egypt announced plans to host and chair the event.
In addition to this, he spoke about the current preparations that were being made for the conference, including the efforts that were being made to maximise participation from governments, international and regional organisations, and other parties concerned.
