Court extends Imran Khan’s bail till July 21

ISLAMABAD: A district and session court in Islamabad on Monday granted bail to the former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in five cases against him.

During the hearing, additional session judge East Abdul Ghafoor Kakar approved the bail pleas in five cases against an Rs5,000 surety bond in each case. Imran Khan didn’t not appear in court and was represented by senior lawyer Babar Awan.

Imran Khan also filed a plea to exempt him from proceedings in the cases filed against him at four police stations in Islamabad over vandalism and other offenses during the long march.

Meanwhile, a local court heard the plea in different case and extended bail till July 21. The applications on behalf of Imran Khan were heard by Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti.

The PTI chairman’s lawyer Babar awan and prosecutor Wajid Munir appeared in the court. The lawyer filed a request for exemption from personal attendance which was approved by the court.

Earlier on July 6, PTI chairman Imran Khan obtained interim bail in 10 cases filed by the incumbent government against him.

PTI leader Babar Awan appeared before the court on behalf of Imran Khan in the district court. He pleaded that the PTI chairman could not appear before the court owing to a security threat. The court also extended the bail pleas of PTI leader Shah Farman and Shahram Tarakai.

Previously, a district and sessions court in Islamabad granted pre-arrest bail to former prime minister Imran Khan in different cases of vandalism during the long march toward Islamabad.

PTI Chairman appeared before the district and sessions judge. The court  has granted pre-arrest bail to in 10 FIRs till July 6 and directed police to submit a record of cases in next hearing.
