Adam Zampa will be back from paternity leave in time for Australia’s back-to-back ODI series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand in late August and early September. However, Test captain Pat Cummins will not play in either series because he needs to rest up for a huge home summer.

Australia and Zimbabwe play three ODIs in Townsville on August 28, 31 and September 3. Three ODIs versus New Zealand will follow on September 6, 8, and 11 in Cairns.

Zampa missed Australia’s Sri Lanka trip after the birth of his first kid. Ashton Agar will return after missing four ODIs with a side strain.

Cummins played four of five ODIs following the T20Is. Australia’s national selection panel decided to rest him from the forthcoming series against Zimbabwe and New Zealand so he can prepare for the T20 World Cup and a busy Test season that includes five home Tests against West Indies and South Africa before a four-Test trip to India early next year.

Travis Head will miss both ODI series since he’s pregnant.

Sean Abbott replaces Cummins in the ODI team after missing the Sri Lanka trip with a fractured finger.

Marcus Stoinis will return after suffering a side injury in Sri Lanka. Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann, Josh Inglis, and Jhye Richardson were cut from Australia’s Sri Lanka team.

Glenn Maxwell (London Spirit), Adam Zampa (Welsh Fire), Marcus Stoinis (Southern Brave), and Kyle Abbott (Manchester Originals) are expected to return to Australia a week before the first ODI on August 28.

Daniel Vettori will coach Birmingham Phoenix and miss both of Australia’s matches.
