Nancy Pelosi husband buys millions computer-chip stocks before vote

  • Paul Pelosi purchased up to $5 million in stock options on a computer-chip business.
  • The legislation would provide billions of dollars in subsidies to stimulate the chip-manufacturing industry.
  • Senate is set to vote next week on the bipartisan competitiveness package, which would provide tax incentives for production.

Paul Pelosi, the husband of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, purchased up to $5 million in stock options on a computer-chip business ahead of a vote next week on legislation that would provide billions of dollars in subsidies to stimulate the chip-manufacturing industry, new financial filings reveal.

The Daily Caller said that Paul Pelosi bought between $1 million and $5 million worth of Nvidia shares on June 17, based on the lawmaker’s disclosure forms.

The international news agency reported that senators are poised to assemble as early as Tuesday to vote on a bipartisan competitiveness package that would allocate $52 billion to stimulate domestic chip manufacture and provide tax incentives for production.

Craig Holman, a government relations lobbyist for the left-leaning think tank Public Citizen, told the Daily Caller News Foundation, “It certainly raises the specter that Paul Pelosi could have access to some insider legislative information.”

“This is the reason why there is a stock trading app that exclusively monitors Paul’s trading activity and then its followers do likewise.”
