Taylor Swift has reportedly got secretly engaged to British actor Joe Alwyn, with the couple set to tie the knot in 18 months time.

According to reports, the actor, who is 31 years old, proposed to Taylor, 32, a few months ago, with only their closest friends and family aware of their engagement.

According to reports, the happy pair, who have been dating since 2016, is planning a “simple yet elegant wedding” and isn’t being seduced by the idea of getting rich off lucrative magazine or TV deals for their wedding.

A source close to Joe told: “Taylor and Joe are incredibly happy, and very, very in love, they’ve actually been engaged for a few months but have only told their inner-inner circle – basically immediate family, and trusted, very old friends.

“Everyone has been sworn to secrecy, too. Taylor has a beautiful ring but she only wears it when she’s at home – i.e behind closed doors.

“Again, only a handful of people know details about the wedding and Taylor hasn’t even told some of her team about the engagement.”

According to the tabloid, there are still no firm wedding plans in place, and it’s unclear whether Taylor and Joe will formally announce their engagement.

As they flew 4,000 miles from Nashville to St Ives for a romantic getaway, the couple previously fuelled rumours of an engagement back in January.

The vacation they took to the quaint fishing port town in Cornwall, which is reported to be “especially significant” to them, set up a flurry of rumours.

For six years, pop star Taylor and Joe have shared their time between the US and London.

According to a person who is close with the couple, their connection grew stronger during the Covid-19 pandemic because they were forced to live together throughout the lockdowns.

Alwyn, who was born in London, rose to fame after appearing in the 2016 war drama Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.

Joe commented back in April about keeping his connection with the Grammy winner private: “It’s just not for other people.

“I don’t know how best to talk about it. I mean, I’m aware of people’s… of that size of interest, and that world existing.

“It’s just not something I particularly care about, or have much interest in feeding, I guess, because the more it’s fed, the more you are opening a gate for intrusion. I think that’s just my response to a culture that has this increasing expectation that everything is going to be given.”

Joe acknowledged that he enjoyed it when Taylor sang songs about him in 2019.

When asked if he minded being her subject matter for her music, he said: “No, not at all. No. It’s flattering,”

Even for Swift’s most recent albums, Folklore and Evermore, which were released last year, the actor and Swift collaborated on songwriting.

He wrote under the pseudonym William Bowery.

Swift has avoided talking about Alwyn in interviews, and speaking to The Guardian about her decision, she said: “I’ve learned that if I do, people think it’s up for discussion, and our relationship isn’t up for discussion.”

Following her bitter Snapchat argument with Kim Kardashian, Taylor revealed in her Miss Americana Netflix documentary how her relationship with Joe began in 2016.

She admitted, “I felt alone, I felt really bitter.”

“I felt sort of like a wounded animal lashing out. I figured I had to reset everything. I had to reconstruct an entire belief system for my own personal sanity. I also was falling in love with someone who had a wonderfully normal, balanced life.”

The pop star revealed that Joe contributed to the inspiration for her song Peace in 2020 while speaking with Paul McCartney for Rolling Stone.

She explained the song “is actually more rooted in my personal life. I know you have done a really excellent job of this in your personal life: carving out a human life within a public life, and how scary that can be when you do fall in love and you meet someone, especially if you’ve met someone who has a very grounded, normal way of living.”

Taylor Swift, one of music’s most well-known and wealthy ladies, has chosen from among the A-List of relationships. She has amassed $170 million and dominated the charts.

Before Joe, she dated fellow chart-topper Calvin Harris (dating the Scot from March 2015 to June 2016), Hollywood heavyweight Tom Hiddleston, 41, and another cross-country romance with Harry Styles.

Additionally, she has dated people like Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer.

Taylor Swift is known for composing songs about her ex-boyfriends, and the release of her song All Too Well in November of last year brought her connection with Jake back into the public eye.
