In a secluded Dorset village, two bodies have been discovered: a man and a woman.

The victims, who were both in their 70s, passed away at a residence in Gifle View, Thornford.

Just after 6 am today, police were alerted to reports of a woman who had died unexpectedly.

While rushing to the location, police and paramedics discovered both bodies inside.

The Major Crime Investigation Team of the Dorset Police is in charge of looking into the atrocity.

Family of the man has been notified. Officers have attempted to locate the woman’s family, but to no avail.

Both victims were acquainted with one another, according to Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour.

“This is a very terrible situation, and we are doing everything in our power to support the man’s family, “added he.

“Officers are conducting investigations to determine exactly what occurred.

“There is a cordon in place so that the scene may be examined.

It is currently thought that no other parties were involved in the incident.

The full facts surrounding the fatalities will be ascertained after further investigation.

He issued a request for information from anyone who may have knowledge of the incident.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area,” he added. “If anyone has any concerns or information, we encourage them to contact officers from the neighbourhood policing team.”
