Iceberg the size of a truck collides with cruise liner, shocking passengers

cruise liner collides

A cruise liner has collided with an iceberg in the middle of the ocean due to dense fog.

After striking the iceberg on Saturday, the Norwegian Cruise Line ship, which was carrying 2,000 guests, made a U-turn and sailed away (June 25).

According to the Daily Mirror, several passengers were sleeping at the time and were not aware of the situation outside.
Others, though, recorded the incident on tape, and a worrisome thud was audible.

Fortunately, no one was hurt. The ship subsequently berthed in Juneau, Alaska, where expert divers evaluated the damage and suggested that it return to Seattle for repairs.

As Alicia Amador told the Juneau Empire that it was a “terrible experience,” passengers aboard the cruise expressed their sorrow at the horrific episode.

She added that the iceberg was “the size of a semi-truck” before stating that “the whole boat came to a complete stop following the impact.”

According to Norwegian Cruise Line, the ship was still “completely functioning” and was returning to Juneau, Alaska for “evaluation.”

According to Petty Officer First Class Nate Littlejohn, the ship reported no injuries.

According to him, a search and rescue effort was not necessary because the captain immediately reported the event to the National Guard.

Passengers were informed that they would receive a refund as a result of the collision and the need to turn the ship around for repairs.
