ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad on Monday granted bail to former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Shehryar Afridi and Khurram Nawaz in a case related to vandalism during the PTI long march.
The case was heard at the Islamabad District Sessions Court. Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti conducted the hearing in which former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid and PTI leaders Shehryar Afridi and Khurram Nawaz appeared before the court.
The bail application of the three accused was granted on submission of surety bonds of Rs. 5,000 each. A case was registered against the accused at Kohsar police station during the PTI long march.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Sheikh Rashid said anarchy would spread if there was rigging in the upcoming elections. He said false cases were lodged against them in which bail has been granted.
“The manner in which this conspiracy that has been hatched, law has been mocked and Imran Khan’s government was a victim of a global conspiracy has raised his politics,” he stated.
Regarding to first phase of LG elections in Sindh, Sheikh Rashid said MQM Pakistan had already claimed that dacoits took away the presiding officers along with the ballot boxes.

He said that if the situation prevailed like Sindh, then anarchy would spread in Pakistan, democracy would be damaged and the economy which was already in an adverse state would be destroyed.
Sheikh Rashid said that the ANP has been defeated, BAP is nowhere to be seen and the MQM should also realize as it is part of the 13-party coalition government.
Meanwhile, a Lahore Sessions Court judge confirmed the interim bail of PTI leaders in the Punjab Assembly riot case.
The court approved the interim bail of PTI leaders Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Sibtain Khan, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Sadia Sohail Rana, Sania Kamran, Zainab, Sher Akbar Khan, Mian Atif and Umar Aftab.
A case of rioting in Punjab Assembly has been registered by Qila Gujar Singh Police Station. On behalf of the petitioners, Burhan Moazzam Malik Advocate completed the arguments in court.
