ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday congratulated Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on receiving King Abdulaziz Medal, Bol news channel reported.
PM Shehbaz termed it a great honour not for just the armed forces but people of Pakistan as well.
“Heartiest congratulations to Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on conferment of King Abdulaziz Medal for his contributions to strengthening defence ties between our two brotherly countries. It is a great honour for the people and the armed forces of Pakistan,” he tweeted.
He said Pakistan resolved to further enhance the bilateral ties with the kingdom in different fields including in defence sector.

“We consider the security of Saudi Arabia as our own and are completely resolved to further cementing our multifaceted bilateral relationship including excellent defence cooperation,” PM Shehbaz maintained.

On June 26, Qamar Javed Bajwa was awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, an order of merit named after Saudi Arabia’s founder, Saudi state media reported.
“Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz conferred the medal upon COAS General Bajwa in recognition of his distinguished efforts in consolidating and strengthening bonds of friendship and joint cooperation and developing Saudi-Pakistani relations,” the Saudi Press Agency stated.
The army chief is currently on a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he was received by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi deputy prime minister and minister of defence.
