ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed the petition of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) MNA Faheem Khan against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s order for taking action against him.
The ECP had directed to register a criminal case against Faheem Khan in a Senate election video scandal case pertaining to corrupt practice. The commission’s ruling was challenged by Faheem Khan in the high court.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah dismissed the petition as inadmissible.
Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Haider Gilani’s video had surfaced a day before the Senate election in March 2021. In the video, Ali Haider Gilani was allegedly teaching PTI leaders how to waste their votes. Faheem Khan had admitted his being present in the video. However, he denied taking any money from Ali Gilani.
The election commission had ordered criminal proceedings against Ali Haider Gilani. Action was also directed against PTI MNAs Faheem Khan and Jameel Ahmed, who had made the video. Justice Athar Minallah said the ECP’s decision was right.
Faheem Khan had challenged the action against him in the high court.

On April 29, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had dismissed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s petitions filed for disqualification of Yousaf Raza Gillani from the Senate seat.
The commission announcing its decision in Islamabad had said no evidence had been found against Yousaf Raza Gillani.
The election commission, however, had asked the District Election Commissioner Islamabad to proceed against Ali Haider Gillani, Member National Assembly Faheem Khan and Jamil Ahmad Khan for their involvement in corrupt practices.
The ECP had announced its verdict reserved on PTI’s pleas on April 5.
A three-member bench, headed by the then Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, had heard the disqualification case against Yousaf Raza Gillani over a video scandal of his son.
The ECP in its verdict had ruled that the election body had found no evidence of corruption against the former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani in the video scandal case.
