The PTI is set to challenge amendments in the NAB laws in the Supreme Court. The laws which have drastically curtailed the power of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), are now effective after being passed by a joint session of parliament earlier this month.

In this regard, the PTI has acquired the services of senior lawyer Khawaja Haris, who would file a petition against the National Accountability (Second Amendment) Bill 2021.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan had vowed to challenge the recently-passed National Accountability (Amendment) Bill 2022 in the Supreme Court.

“I will challenge the amendments to NAB law in the Supreme Court this week. This new law is disrespect to the nation and the country,” he said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad last Tuesday.

The ouster prime minister called for throwing incumbent rulers behind bars for “shamelessly” passing the amendments in the NAB laws which would promote corruption and money laundering in the country.
