ISLAMABAD: Ex-special assistant to prime minister on youth affairs Usman Dar on Thursday said the government had dissolved a number of former prime minister Imran Khan’s schemes introduced to eradicate poverty and uplift the poor.
“Imran Khan’s health card of Rs1 million has been terminated, Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar scheme for poor has been ended, Kamyab Jawan Programme for Youth, Free Ehsaas Sasta Rashion Card and subsidy on petrol and diesel have been finished,” Usman Dar said.
Instead, he said taking a dig, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had started giving a meagre Rs2000, “because we are beggars”.
On June 19, the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) workers had come out in large numbers to protest against the rising inflation and increase in petroleum despite the obstacles being placed by the government.

In Karachi, a heavy contingent of police personnel were present on the Main Shahrah-e-Quaideen and the road leading to Shahrah-e-Faisal was blocked.
Former governor Sindh Imran Ismail and other members of the PTI’s local leadership had led the protest.
PTI leader Azhar Farooq had said police had created obstacles on the instructions of the Sindh government. He had said holding a peaceful protest was the right of the PTI, adding that the Sindh government was worried about the presence of people. He had said PTI workers were undeterred by such high-handed tactics.
He had alleged that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was using the police force to settle political scores. He had claimed they had sought prior permission from Deputy Commissioner for holding the protests.
In Hyderabad, a screen had been set up in front of the press club where a large number of the party workers had gathered. The activists had said they were with Imran Khan every step of the way and the “imported government” had started economic massacre.
They had said inflation would not be accepted under any circumstances and they would complete Imran Khan’s mission.
