NAWABASHAH: The stepmother of former President Asif Ali Zardari has passed away.

Ms Zareen Ara was under treatment at a private hospital in Karachi where she passed away. She will be laid to rest at their ancestor Balo Ja Kuba graveyard in Nawabshah besides her husband Hakim Ali Zardari.

Her funeral prayers will be attended by Asif Zardari, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and a large number of party leaders and activists.

Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur, and Dr Azra Fazal Pechucho will arrive in Nawabshah by a special flight for the funeral.

Condolences

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the demise of the former president’s stepmother.

In his condolence message, the prime minister prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in Heaven and grant courage to the bereaved family to irreparable bear this loss. He said the death of a kind figure like mother is a great shock.

President Dr Arif Alvi, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, NA Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and other prominent personalities have expressed their condolences.

Zardari family

Zardari’s father Hakim Ali Zardari was married twice. He had four children with his first wife Bilquis Sultan, who was granddaughter of renowned educationist and founder of Sindh Madressatul Islam in Karachi, Hassanally Effendi.

They had four children Asif Ali Zardari, Fouzia , Azra and Faryal. He also had an adopted son Owais Muzaffar.

His second wife Zareen Ara was the daughter former Radio Pakistan director-general ZA Bukhari. They had no children.
