Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman and Former Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi gave an important statement regarding FATF.
Makhdoom Shah said that when they were legislating on FATF, both Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) were reluctant to cooperate.
He said that they try to convince them that the law regarding FATF was in the national interest, but both the parties put NRO 2 in front. It is incomprehensible what the present government is trying to take credit for today despite its opposition to the legislation.

He said that both the parties stipulated that if they get relief in NAB cases then they will support us in this legislation against FATF. Whereas, the action plan in this regard was completed in our time on the basis of which they decided in the plenary session that the final decision regarding the grey list will be taken after the site visit.
Makhdoom Shah said that it’s planning, administrative measures and regulation took place during the PTI tenure and questioned the PML-N-led government for wearing the crown of success in FATF. He added that Hamad Azhar, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have jointly adopted a common strategy, and worked tirelessly.

He further added that the relevant officials of our military establishment and the people of SBP cooperated a lot while he claimed that they have made satisfactory progress on all the benchmarks set by FATF.
Meanwhile, Makhdoom Shah hopes that FATF team will make a positive decision during their visit considering it a positive development.
