Zhang Siqing, former procurator general, was cremated

  • Zhang Siqing, the former head of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) of China, was cremated in Beijing on Tuesday.
  • Xi Jinping, Li Zhanshu, and Wang Yang visited Zhang’s family after his death to tell them how sorry they were.
  • Zhang passed away on June 17 at the age of 90 due to sickness in Beijing.

Zhang Siqing, the former head of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) of China, was cremated in Beijing on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, Xi Jinping, Li Zhanshu, and Wang Yang went to the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery to pay their respects to Zhang and tell his family how sorry they were.

On June 17, at the age of 90, Zhang passed away from illness in Beijing.

In an official statement, Zhang was lauded as an outstanding member of the Chinese Communist Party, a seasoned and dedicated communist soldier, and an exceptional leader on the judicial, prosecutorial, and public security fronts.

He had previously held the positions of deputy chairman of the ninth and tenth national committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and general prosecutor of the SPP.

Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng, Wang Qishan, Jiang Zemin, and Hu Jintao either visited Zhang in the hospital or sent condolences to his family after he died.
