Rainstorms hit 485,000 people in Jiangxi, China

  • Some 485,000 people have been hit by heavy rain in east China’s Jiangxi Province.

In east China’s Jiangxi Province, some 485,000 people have been hit by heavy rain, prompting authorities to raise the flood control emergency reaction level on Monday evening.

From Saturday until Monday at 3:00 p.m., torrential rain and flooding affected 43,300 hectares of crops across 55 counties in Jiangxi.

As per the headquarters, direct economic losses from the floods totalled 470 million yuan (about 70 million U.S. dollars).

According to the local meteorological agency, Tuesday would see a minor decrease in precipitation in Jiangxi, although heavy precipitation would affect the province’s southern and eastern regions.
