CM Sindh orders to improve security situation in Karachi before LG polls

KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered to improve law and order situation ahead of the Local Government (LG) elections in Karachi next month.

The chief minister issued the instructions in a meeting with Additional Inspector-General Karachi Javed Odho.

The chief minister ordered the Karachi police chief to take strict action against those involved in the firing incident during the NA-240 by-elections in Karachi.

At least one person was killed and several others were injured in a firing incident during the violence-marred polls. Miscreants also opened at the vehicle of Pak Sarzameen Party (PPP) candidate Shabbir Qaimkhani.

CM Sindh instructed the police chief to improve law and order situation and LG polls are scheduled to be held next month. He also ordered to take stern action against those violating the security situation in the city.

“We will not allow spoiling peace under any circumstances,” he reaffirmed. “Everyone doing politics in the city or the province should do peacefully.”

“We have restored the peace of this city after great sacrifices, we will not allow it to deteriorate under any circumstances,” he added.

He said all Senior Superintendents (SSPs) should increase patrolling and vigilance over miscreants in their districts spoiling the law and order situation.

The first phase of the LG elections are held in Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions on June 26. Polling for Karachi and Hyderabad divisions will be held on July 24.
