Court orders postmortem of Aamir Liaquat

KARACHI: A Judicial Magistrate East heard the petition for the postmortem of the televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain today and ordered the autopsy of the deceased.

The details revealed by the sources hold that the court after hearing the statements of the plaintiff and the host’s heirs reserved verdict this morning.

The public prosecutor Sajjad Ali Dashti said that the heirs were not willing for the autopsy claiming that it would hurt their father’s soul.

It was also presented before the court that the family has no suspicions about the cause of the death however, the police surgeon opined that the cause of the death of Aamir Liaquat was not ascertained as “no internal examination” of the body was conducted.

Notably, the media person died at his residence at Khudadad Colony on June 9 but no cause of the death was revealed.

Police ordered a postmortem of the body which was opposed by the family members of the deceased and the burial took place after permission from the court.

Later, a petition was filed by a citizen named Abdul Ahad in regards to the autopsy of the body to conclude the cause of the death.

The sources privy to the matter revealed that the court issued notice to Aamir’s heirs ordering the family either to appear before the court or to file a reply not later than 9am on Saturday.
