Cristiano Ronaldo would allegedly have to pay £17 million to build his retirement home on the ‘Portuguese Riviera.’

In September, the Manchester United forward, 37, purchased a big plot of property in Quinta da Marinha, Cascais, on the west coast of his native Portugal, called the “Portuguese Riviera” because to its standing as a renowned, costly location.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus star had originally put aside £10 million for the construction, but that figure has nearly quadrupled due to rising material costs and Ronaldo’s ambition for ‘perfection.’

According to earlier reports, Ronaldo intends to settle down there with his family once he retires from football.

‘He’s fought for excellence throughout his soccer career and he wants the same off the pitch,’ a reliable source told The Sun.

‘He wants everything to be perfect for himself and his family.’

‘The initial budget was roughly £10 million, but it is now £17 million,’ revealed another source.

‘A large portion of the price rise is due to an increase in the cost of building materials.

‘Everyone knows they’ve taken off. It’s a problem that affects more than just Portugal.’

The Red Devils star splashed out on the most expensive flat ever sold in Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city, in 2020 – paying £6.5m for a state-of-the-art 3,100-square foot pad in Avenida da Liberdade with a gym and an indoor swimming pool.

The star forward also owns properties including a seven-storey apartment block in Funchal, Madeira, where his mother Dolores, 66, and brother Hugo live after he bought it two years ago.

Despite the fact that the construction work is slated to be completed late next year, Ronaldo does not appear to be ready to retire just yet.
