Eng vs NZ: Trent Boult breaks record for most run at number 11

New Zealand’s pacer Trent Boult has scored the most runs by a player batting at number 11 in the history of Test cricket.

Boult reached the milestone in the final of the second Test against England when he hit 17 runs to bring his total to 640 runs while batting as the Jack. He beat the previous record of 623 runs established by Sri Lankan star Muttiah Muralitharan, a spinner.

Boult smirked after breaking the record for most runs scored by batting at No. 11: “I’ve had my eye on this record for ten-and-a-half years.”

Boult was dismissed by England’s fast bowler James Anderson, concluding New Zealand’s second innings with 284 runs. England must score 299 runs on the last day to take a 2-0 series lead.

The left-arm fast bowler has appeared in 76 Tests and taken 305 wickets averaging 27.40 in his Test career.
