NANCHANG: As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, 548,000 people in east China’s Jiangxi Province have been hit by heavy rain since Sunday, as per the provincial flood control headquarters.

The torrential rain prompted 113,000 people to relocate from Sunday to Tuesday at 5 p.m., according to the headquarters, with the downpour causing a direct economic loss of roughly 500 million yuan (74.4 million U.S. dollars).
Although the rain stopped on Wednesday, the local meteorological department predicted that more rainstorms would hit the region next week.
