Digitalization of Parliament vital for enhancing efficiency: NA Speaker

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that digitalization would make Parliament more effective and productive.

He said that introducing Google Office in offices of National Assembly Secretariat would make the Pakistan the first paperless Parliament in South Asia.

The Speaker expressed these views during his meeting regarding “Digital Innovation Hub” with CEO Tech Valley and representatives of Google team from different countries. Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that digitalization and Google Office would transform the ambience of Parliament.

He also instructed to complete the project of digitalization of Parliament at the earliest. He said that adopting artificial intelligence based information technology would make Assembly personnel more productive.

CEO Tech Valley Umer Farooq briefed participants that it is first Parliament in South Asia adopting digitalization. He also said that Tech valley is a Google partner for digitalization of Parliament.

The Project Director of Digitalization Hub for Parliament briefed the meeting that digitalization training have been conducted in various offices of National Assembly.

Last month, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has said that Parliament is representative of the masses and maintaining the supremacy of Parliament is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders.

While meeting the members of the Executive Body of the Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) in Parliament House, he said that the role of parliamentary reporters is vital to maintain a close liaison between the public and parliament.

NA Speaker Pervaiz Ashraf said that Parliament Reporters Association (PRA) is the representative body of all reporters who is responsible for apprising the masses about Parliamentary activities and proceedings.

He added that he has always been struggling with the support of the press and media for the supremacy of the constitution and parliament. He also expressed his appreciation for the role of media to boost the democratic values in the country.
