Northside-Southside MetroLink expansion research has been approved

  • Roach suggested that the East-West Gateway Council of Governments support it as St. Louis’ locally preferred solution at its meeting in August or September.

The Bi-State Development Board of Commissioners has approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County for a Northside-Southside MetroLink Corridor Study.

The alignment’s first phase is centered on Jefferson Avenue, and the route would follow Jefferson Avenue from Chippewa to the National Geospatial Agency.

According to Taulby Roach, CEO of transportation agency Bi-State Development, the project would broaden the Northside-Southside MetroLink Corridor Technological Alternatives Analysis and draw on prior research to create a more comprehensive review of locations in St. Louis County.

Mayor Tishaura Jones, who supports a Northside-Southside line, stated that it will open in November 2021.  “This is the time for us to continue forward on that project.”
