Manchester United is prepared to outbid Tottenham for Villarreal defender Pau Torres by paying the club’s £42.6 million asking price.
The defender is thought to have a release clause in his contract that allows him to go for around £42.6 million.
Last summer, the Spain international piqued United’s and Tottenham’s attention after impressing during Villarreal’s journey to the Europa League final. Torres confirmed earlier this season that turned down a move to north London.
‘This summer, my representative called me and told me that Tottenham had made me a significant offer, which was more than what I was earning at the time,’ Torres added.

He chose to continue with his hometown club, and his choice was vindicated by the club’s incredible run to the Champions League semi-finals.
Torres, on the other hand, is now willing to move on, according to La Razon, and United is willing to pay the £42.6 million asking price.
