In the aftermath of their heartbreaking “reality check,” the family of a Missouri college student who left blind with “severe brain damage” following an alcohol-fueled hazing event at school.

According to The Associated Press, Daniel “Danny” Santulli, reportedly forced to drink a whole bottle of vodka when pledging to join the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at the University of Missouri in October 2021. A complaint explains how Santulli recently discovered in a car suffering from cardiac arrest outside Columbia, Missouri’s University Hospital.

According to the Columbia Missourian, he, however, discovered to have a blood-alcohol percentage of 0.486 percent that causes brain damage. This is more than six times the 0.08 percent legal driving limit.

Danny returned from a Colorado rehabilitation center to his home in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, on May 25. Tom Santulli, on Wednesday, but dealing with Danny’s injuries has “been incredibly hard.”

“He has a long journey ahead of him,” Santulli remarked over the phone. “All we can hope is that he gets better.”

Tom Santulli’s wife has recently quit her job at a bank to give her whole attention to caring for their son, he added.

“Working full-time and caring for him is too much,” Santulli added.
