Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez headline the Tribeca Film Festival’s celebrity lineup

  • A Jennifer Lopez documentary, a “Heat” reunion, and a conversation with chart-topper Taylor Swift are among the attractions of this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, which begins on Wednesday in New York.
  • Lopez is set to attend the screening of “Halftime,” a documentary on the singer and actor’s career, which starts off the 20th anniversary gala.

Later in the lineup, festival co-founder Robert De Niro will join with “Heat” co-star Al Pacino and director Michael Mann to commemorate the film’s position in cinema history.

“I worked really hard on it.” Michael Mann is a one-of-a-kind filmmaker. He has a right to want things to be done a specific manner, and that is what makes the film exceptional,” De Niro told Reuters.

“I’m excited to share it with the festival audience and gather a few of us.”

Rapper Lil Baby will perform after the premiere of his film “Untrapped,” while Machine Gun Kelly will perform after the screening of his feature film “Taurus.”

Swift, former tennis champion John McEnroe, and human rights crusader Rev. Al Sharpton will all speak at Tribeca Talks events about their own projects.

The festival will play 110 feature films from 40 nations from June 8 to 19, including documentaries on abortion, reparations, and press freedom.

“We choose a lot of our films with a bigger audience in mind,” co-founder Jane Rosenthal told Reuters.

“You might learn something you wouldn’t learn if you only watched talk TV and people ranting at each other.” As a result, it allows an audience to listen and see a point of view in a new light.”
