Over the weekend, a fire broke out during a high school graduation celebration in West Texas, sending five teenagers to the hospital, two of whom were in severe condition, according to police.

The teenagers of 16 to 18 at the graduation ceremony, They injured badly at 1 a.m. Saturday at a residence in the 10800 block of Thunder Road in Socorro, according to Police Chief David Burton. There were up to 100 guests at the party.

According to partygoers, the gunfire occurred following a quarrel between two groups, according to Burton. He told news networks that the incident was planned.

At a news conference on Saturday, Burton expressed confidence that a suspect going to be discovered and detained soon

Socorro is located near the Mexican border, about 15 miles south of El Paso.

Saturday’s shooting was the latest in a string of high-profile shootings around the United States in recent weeks. An 18-year-old opened fire at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, last month, killing 10 people and wounding others.

Less than two weeks later, another 18-year-old shooter opened fire on a Texas elementary school, killing 21 people, including 19 children.
