A Conservative Party source said on Monday that Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised legislators a new economic strategy for development next week after the British leader addressed his party ahead of a vote of no confidence in his leadership.
According to the source, Johnson also promised to lower taxes if re-elected, and warned lawmakers against turning on one another and putting the party in a ‘Groundhog Day’ situation.
“He didn’t promise a specific tax cut,” the source said after the meeting, “but the chancellor (Rishi Sunak) and him will set out the strategy for growth next week, and you’ll get the general idea of the prime minister’s vision across the board and the overall economic picture.”
