Stephen Curry scored 29 points as the Golden State Warriors raced back into NBA Finals contention with a 107-88 victory against the Boston Celtics in game two on Sunday.

Curry led a lethal Golden State shooting show in San Francisco, while a terrific defensive effort by the Warriors neutralized Boston’s major offensive tools.

The Warriors, who blew a 12-point fourth-quarter lead in game one, were determined not to let history repeat itself as they exploded for a double-digit third-quarter lead to even the best-of-seven series at 1-1.

Golden State was led in scoring by Curry, who was followed by Jordan Poole (17 points), Andrew Wiggins (11), Kevon Looney (12), and Klay Thompson (11).

Jayson Tatum led Boston in scoring with 28 points, but 21 of those points were significantly scored in the first half.

Only two other Boston players scored in double figures: Jaylen Brown (17 points) and Derrick White (12 points).

The Warriors’ defense, spearheaded by Draymond Green, suffocated Boston in the second half, with Al Horford and Marcus Smart, two high-scoring Celtics from game one, being held to a combined four points.

The series now shifts to Boston, where games three and four are set for Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

“We said we needed to play with desperation and that’s what we did,” said Curry. “It’s a good feeling to get back on track and now we’ve got to take it on the road.

“We got off to a better start defensively where we made an imprint on the game and they felt us more than they did in game one. Our third quarter was great and we got a bit more separation that made the fourth quarter easier tonight.”

After outscoring Boston 35-14 in the third quarter to take an 87-64 advantage into the fourth, the Warriors established a winning position.
