Gareth Bale has announced that he would not retire after Wales qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Real Madrid’s decision not to renew the player’s contract prompted the 32-year-old to contemplate retirement this summer.
The forward, who joined the La Liga nine years ago for a British record transfer of £85 million, had a successful run at the Santiago Bernabeu, albeit he failed to secure a starting position in the Spanish team towards the end of his stint. Bale appeared 258 times for Los Blancos, contributing directly to 173 goals.

He was key in Real Madrid being the first team to win the Champions League three consecutive years. The Welshman spent the majority of his final years at the Bernabeu either injured, out of favor, or on loan at Tottenham, where he acknowledged controversially that he exploited a return to White Hart Lane to build his fitness.
Regardless of whether he may or may not have burned his links with Tottenham fans, the north London club’s Twitter page posted an opportune message that may indicate Bale’s homecoming. Following the qualification of the Dragons for the World Cup, Spurs tweeted a photo of Bale, Ben Davies, and Joe Rodon.

Our Welsh boys sent fans into a frenzy and showed the Tottenham social media admin a lot of love in the replies. Though some did not speculate prematurely about a possible return for Bale this summer.
Regardless of whether Bale returns, Spurs are eager to bolster their roster this summer. The international news agency reports that Antonio Conte is seeking as many as six players in this transfer window, including a central defender, a right wing-back, two midfielders, a striker, and a backup goalkeeper.

The Spurs boss told an Italian news agency in February: “Four players left in January. Four important players for Tottenham, two have arrived. So even numerically instead of strengthening you may have, on paper, weakened.”
In April, though, the Italian manager appeared to cool things down a bit, emphasising the importance of the two new transfers.. Conte said: “I said that with these two players, despite that we lost four players in January, with these two new signings we made this squad more complete, with more balance.
“I think that it’s very important in football to have a clear idea and to have a good vision. Because in this way, the situation is more simple.”
