Professor in India sent on ‘compulsory leave’ for offering namaz in college lawn

According to Zee News, an Indian college lecturer was placed on “compulsory leave” after a video of him offering namaz on the college grounds went viral and the Hindu right-wing sought action against him.

Professor S R Khalid of Sri Varshney College was suspended for a month after he was discovered praying on the college lawns.

According to a college spokeswoman, the incident was reported to them by Bhartiya Janata Yuwa Morcha (BJYM) student leaders, and the institute was looking into it.

The teacher, according to the young leaders, displayed indiscipline. Deepak Sharma Azaad, a student leader, claimed Khalid was seeking to disrupt the peace by praying in public locations.

The incident was also reported to the police, who filed a report at the Kuwarsi police station. The police, on the other hand, stated that they will take action after obtaining reports from the college.
