A senior White House official said on Wednesday that US President Joe Biden will meet with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on the sidelines of the Americas Summit in Los Angeles next week, which will be hosted by the US.
Juan Gonzalez, the White House’s Latin America adviser, confirmed to reporters that the two would meet for the first time. When asked if Biden would express concern over Bolsonaro’s criticism of Brazil’s electoral system ahead of the election, Gonzalez answered simply that “the United States has trust in Brazil’s electoral institutions.”
