Aid groups and Western countries are encouraging warring parties to extend a shaky cease-fire; between Yemen’s government and Houthi rebel troops, which is poised to expire in a day.

Yemen has been engulfed in conflict since the Houthis, who are allied with Iran, took control of the capital, Sanaa, in 2014, forcing the government to flee. In 2015, Saudi Arabia led a military operation in support of the government.
According to the United Nations, the murderous war has caused the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.
