For what may be the last time on such a huge national stage; the kingdom will honour the queen’s 70-year reign with a four-day festival of royal grandeur and popular revelry.

The Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II will be marked by a four-day extravaganza of royal pageantry; and public revelry to commemorate her 70-year reign.

She is the world’s third-longest-serving monarch, and the longest-serving British or female monarch ever. Since 1952, he has been on the throne, which is closer to the completion of the Statue of Liberty than it is to the present day. She has become an indisputable symbol of British soft power, as well as the country’s most recognised personality worldwide. This week, though, will have bittersweet overtones, as many Britons wonder if this will be their last chance to honour the queen, who is 96, and what that would mean for their country’s identity.
