Simone Johnson, a fourth-generation wrestler, is ready to make an impact in the professional wrestling world. Simone Johnson, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s daughter, recently announced a name change that created a lot of controversy.
Johnson has been training at WWE’s Performance Center since signing with the promotion in 2020. She just changed her Twitter handle to “Ava Raine,” a name that the WWE recently trademarked—something they do with the bulk of their new hires.
However, the name change was met with backlash, with some fans claiming on social media that her name should be linked to The Rock, or at the at least, the Anoa’i family. Some quipped that she should go by the moniker “The Pebble.” Johnson defended his decision to use the Raine name in response to the backlash on social media.

She’d also come up with a number of clever ways to exploit the term “Pebble” to make a point.
i probably sound like a broken record & hopefully this is the last i’ll mention this but i don’t understand why people being portrayed as separate individuals from their family name is such a heated topic.
a name doesn’t discredit any prior accomplishments from any family 🤷🏽♀️ https://t.co/vsr44PeUqc
