Russian natural gas supplies to Shell’s German clients are poised to be cut off.

Gazprom (GZPFY), the Russian state energy behemoth; announced on Tuesday that natural gas deliveries to Shell (SHLX) would be suspended beginning Wednesday; due to the company’s failure to make ruble payments.
“Shell Energy Europe Limited has informed Gazprom Export LLC that it would not make payments; in rubles under the contract for the sale of gas to Germany,” Gazprom stated in a Telegram statement.
Shell might lose up to 1.2 billion cubic metres of yearly gas supplies, according to Gazprom; which is a minuscule part of the country’s annual gas consumption of 95 billion cubic metres.
