New EU sanctions on Russia are welcomed by Zelensky, but the delay is “unacceptable.”

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, praised the latest European Union sanctions against Moscow on Tuesday; but chastised the bloc for the 50-day gap between the fifth and sixth rounds of sanctions.

“It’s been more than 50 days since the fifth package of sanctions was imposed;” Zelensky said at a joint press conference with Slovakian Prime Minister Zuzana Caputova in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The European Council leaders said Monday that 90 percent of Russian oil imports will be banned; by the end of the year. According to Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, Russian oil carried by tankers will be prohibited; with an exception made for the southern part of the Druzhba pipeline.
